Dampers and Expansion Joints

Axial Variable Inlet Vanes (Axial VIV)

Axial Variable Inlet Vanes (Axial VIV)

Variable inlet vanes are an efficient way to control the airflow. The vanes induce a swirl in the flow entering the fan wheel. The induced swirl is in the same rotation direction as the fan wheel rotation. This swirl allows the flow to be reduced while keeping the power consumption to a minimum.

The axial variable inlet vanes are installed directly at the fan inlet, in between the fan housing and the fan inlet box.

Conical Variable Inlet Vanes (Conical VIV)

The conical variable inlet vanes have the same benefits and operating characteristics as the axial variable inlet vanes. However, it is installed inside the fan inlet box, reducing the distance between bearings and allowing a smaller fan shaft compared to axial VIVs.

Inlet Louver Damper

Inlet Louver Damper

An inlet louver damper, installed on the fan inlet box, is another efficient fan flow control device. The parallel blades of the inlet damper deflect the flow on one side of the inlet box to create a swirl at the inlet of the fan wheel. The induced swirl is in the same rotation direction as the fan wheel rotation. This swirl allows the flow to be reduced while keeping the power consumption to a minimum.

Parallel inlet louver dampers are efficient, reliable and cost-effective means of flow control.

Outlet Louver Damper

Outlet Louver Damper

Outlet louver dampers are used for isolation purposes or for added controllability at low flows,  when used in conjunction with inlet louver dampers or variable inlet vanes (VIV).

Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR) Dampers

Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR) Dampers

Flue gas recirculation dampers are installed at the inlet of the fan. They are operated in conjunction with inlet louver dampers or VIVs to control the total flow as well as the mix ratio of fresh air and flue gas.

 Expansion Joints

Expansion Joints

Expansion joints are used to eliminate possible forces that the pipes could apply to the fan connections. They also allow thermal expansion of pipes and eliminate vibration transmission.

Ventmeca can provide custom-designed expansion joints to resist high temperatures, abrasion and corrosion.
